In this third and final episode on repentance, Arnie and Fred discuss hindrances to repentance. We note that ignorance can be a hindrance and had evidently hindered the Athenians from understanding the true and living God and His expectations for them. Knowledge of Adam and Eve's and Noah's experiences had been lost to most cultures. Additionally, some Christians in Rome failed to realize that God's goodness should have motivated them to repent. Unbelief can hinder one from repenting. and the Hebrew saints were warned against having an evil heart of unbelief. The unbelieving people of Nineveh repented after hearing Jonah's preaching. Apathy is another problem that can affect one's ability to repent and Jesus criticized people in several cities and the church in Laodicea for their apathy. Finally, pride about any number of things can hinder repentance. Judah's pride was identified by the prophet Jeremiah as a reason they went into captivity. The pride that Pharisees and Sadducees had for their physical lineage caused them great difficulty in repenting. We discuss all of these examples and note that whatever hinders one's repentance also affects one's salvation. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion.
