What Else Do You Notice? Savoring the Moment in a Judgment-Free Zone

Listen Later

In this interactive Mindful Living Initiative workshop episode, Mary Huhn revisits the "Judgment-Free Zone" and shows how savoring everyday moments is a simple, joyful way to live there. Listeners explore how constant evaluation drains energy, and how shifting to gentle sensory noticing—through the playful "What Else?" game—turns ordinary experiences at Berkeley Square into portable sanctuaries of mindfulness. Mary guides residents in live practices that use touch, taste, sound, sight, and smell to anchor attention in the present without self-criticism. She highlights Berkeley Square’s own community "architects"—residents who naturally create judgment-free spaces of connection through games, Bible study, walking, music, grief support, and quiet leadership—and shows how every resident can experience the joy in asking "What else?" The episode culminates in teaching the full "turning the kaleidoscope" practice (What else, Who else, When else, Where else, How else, Why else), equipping residents and activity leaders with a simple script for bringing curiosity, safety, and shared joy into daily life and group workshops.
