This week’s episode asks a crucial question: “What Happened to General Surab Azimi?” Surab, who died three years ago, was posthumously promoted from Lt Col to General by his friends at the Afghan United Front after the Taliban executed his men in June 2021. According to Naqib Mirzada, the Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps asked for American air support 100+ times to help Surab and his men, but that support never came. It is an excruciatingly difficult conversation to hear, but we will dig into it until we get all the evidence we can. This is the first piece of evidence.
