Sydney Kaitlyn West, a 19-year-old originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, disappeared on September 30, 2020, while in San Francisco, California. She had taken a rideshare to Crissy Field near the Golden Gate Bridge, a place she often visited to exercise and take photographs. She was last seen on surveillance footage around 6:45 a.m. walking towards the bridge, but due to foggy conditions, much of the camera footage was obscured. Her backpack was later found near the bridge, but her phone and headphones were never recovered. Sydney has not been heard from since.Sydney had been taking a gap year after suffering a concussion earlier in 2020, which made online learning difficult. She had planned to return to the University of California, Berkeley in the fall of 2021. Despite an extensive investigation and multiple tips, there has been no activity on her phone, bank accounts, or social media since her disappearance. Sydney’s family, who believe she would not have intentionally disappeared, has offered a reward for any information about her case, which remains unsolved.
