The seventy came back rejoicing. They had gone out two by two. They had preached, served, witnessed, healed, and watched the power of God work in front of their eyes. They had seen things most of us have only read about. They came back with the kind of excitement that fills a man when he knows God has used him. They said, "Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name." That was not a small thing. That was not a light report. But Jesus stepped into their joy and lifted it higher. He said, "Notwithstanding in this rejoice not... but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." The Lord was not saying, "Do not rejoice at all."
