What Happens When You Try Something New at Church?

Listen Later

Just as Teddy Roosevelt had a vision for preserving America's wilderness, Jesus had a bold vision for bringing God's kingdom to earth—not as a distant future hope, but as a present reality we can experience now. Jesus began by calling ordinary fishermen—Simon, Andrew, James, and John—to follow him. These unlikely disciples abandoned their nets to spread Jesus' vision through teaching, healing, and welcoming those society had rejected. Their message spread from Judea and Galilee all the way to Syria, transforming countless lives. Today, we continue living out this vision in practical ways. We meet physical needs through ministries that redistribute resources to those in need, reflecting the early church described in Acts. We create spaces of belonging for neurodivergent individuals and their families through support groups and sensory-friendly environments. We make worship accessible by introducing liturgical traditions in fresh ways that connect with contemporary audiences. Living Christ's vision requires sacrifice and willingness to change, but it brings the reward of experiencing God's kingdom love—freely given and freely shared. As followers of Jesus today, we're called to ask ourselves how we're participating in God's kingdom vision, what sacrifices we might need to make, who needs to experience God's love through our actions, and how we might be resisting God's transformative work.If you were blessed by this episode, please like, subscribe, and share it with someone else, or please consider making a tax-deductible donation, which will help us continue to bring these streams to you, by clicking: http://tiny.cc/SupportBLCStay In-Touch by clicking: http://tiny.cc/contactblcin
