What if a ginger drinks ginger?

Listen Later

When I see somebody with red hair get a drink made from red ginger, I start to wonder if that could technically be some sort of low level cannibalism.

REed hair and red ginger are not related by anything scientific, yet the names are too close. Red ginger is a plant, ginger is also a person who has red hair.

The only overlapping link of connection is the word ginger, which is already confusing because ginger is the root you use in cooking, the plant, and the person.

If a ginger eats gingerbread, no one gives it any notice. If a ginger drinks ginger tea, no one pays attention. But when the drink is made from red ginger and the person drinking it also has red hair, it feels a little too specific not to pay attention. There is something bizarre about it and not bad, and just the whole idea seems odd.

I do not believe it is cannibalism. That would require eating another human being. But maybe calling it plant-based lookalike cannibalism could add to the comedy. I do not know if gingers would think it is funny or offensive. Maybe both.
