What If It Were Today?
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.” - Revelation 2:11.
Think about this: the first death is the one every human faces. It’s painful, yes, but it’s temporary. The Bible says one day everyone will be raised again — both those who followed Christ and those who rejected Him. But there’s something far more serious: the second death. That one has no return. It’s the final end, the eternal separation from God, the destruction of sin and of those who chose to cling to it.
Now here’s the real question: which side will you be on?
Because Jesus isn’t talking theory here; He’s talking choice. And that choice is made every single day, in the small things. It’s when you decide whether to fill your mind with junk or with God’s Word. It’s when you choose to listen to His voice instead of the crowd. It’s when you refuse to live only for “likes” and shallow approval, and instead seek a life that carries eternal meaning.
Hearing the Spirit means closing your ears to what only drains your peace and energy. When you feed on the bread of heaven, you lose your appetite for emptiness. Christ satisfies the soul in a way nothing else in this world can.
And look at His promise: “The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.” That’s not just a nice line. It’s the guarantee that even if you face the first death, you will rise again to eternal life.
So think about it: if your life ended today, would you be ready to face eternity? Are you living in a way that shows you’ve already chosen Christ’s side?
The good news is change can start right now. Not tomorrow, not someday, but today. Jesus has already overcome for you, and He calls you to overcome with Him.
Pray now. Decide now. Live now as someone who doesn’t fear the second death, because you already hold the promise of eternal life.
