After his confrontation with Cersei in the Godswoods, Ned is certain, now more than ever that neither Joffrey nor his siblings are truly Robert’s children.

Yet he knows the evidence he has is circumstantial at best and would never definitively prove anything. There is only Renly, who Ned suspects has his ambitions, and Ser Barristan Selmy, but he is bound by his vows to the Kingsgurd. He realizes that if he is to have a chance, he will need more help.
