In My Truth

What if staying sick allows us to receive more love? In My Truth with Sophie Vuong

"I've tried everything, why am I still not well?!”
Welcome loves, to this week’s episode of In My Truth with Sarah Riegelhuth! Today we’re chatting with an old and dear friend of Sarah’s, Sophie Vuong.
Sarah and Sophie met through the League of Extraordinary Women when their office was still in South Melbourne. How many OG League Women remember those days?
(For more information about The League of Extraordinary Women, head to: https://www.leagueofextraordinarywomen.com/)
Sophie was VERY excited for Sarah’s book, Get Rich Slow, (https://www.amazon.com.au/Get-Rich-Slow-Achieve-Wealth-ebook/dp/B00AQLFTH2) and even went in to the office to pick it up before it hit the bookshelves! As a marketeer, accountancy firm business owner and millennial, Sarah’s book really resonated with Sophie, and the connection through the League was strong.
But in this episode of In My Truth, we’re diving into completely different territory.
So, what truth or untruth is Sophie wrangling with right now?
Join Sarah Riegelhuth and Sophie Vuong in this episode of In My Truth as they share their mental and physical health journeys, and how their health relates to their upbringing, families and how they felt love as children.

Disclaimer: What we talk about on In My Truth tends to be very raw and can be triggering. In this episode we dive into mental health, Schizoaffective disorder and family relationships, among other things. Resources for support and help are included at the end of show notes - scroll down for more information.

“It got me unconditional love. If I have an asthma attack right now, everyone around me would drop everything to get me to the hospital, so I can see how it served me as a child.”
-
Sophie was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder as a child and felt a lot of shame around it while growing up.
A few years ago, she decided to share about it on her Facebook page, and the following journey lifted a lot of shame and started a lot of conversations.
What have you shared with your circle lately, and what was the response?
-
“I always thought, I get it for other people, but I’m stuck with this.”
Sophie and Sarah also bravely share the untruths they’re living with around:
Labels and diagnosis
Trying everything: naturopaths, psychologists, medications, kinesiology, fasting, breath work, etc, and still not getting better
Sitting with our feelings
Examining our inner saboteurs
Not wanting to stay stuck in our stories
What happens when symptoms return, even after doing the work
Identifying our triggers
Nightmares and our intuition
How our ailments have served us as children and as adults
Old abandonment wounds
Releasing our emotions around our triggers
Healing with our minds
Overthinking and overanalysing our healing and growth
Having too much self-awareness
The overwhelm of self-healing
Nurturing our inner children
Curiosity about ourselves versus self-judgement
Not feeling good enough
-
Remember you’re not alone, and there is hope, even though it may not feel that way at times. Talk to someone, a friend or family member and let them support you. Reach out to a professional. Do whatever you need to do to start your journey back to feeling good.
