Johnny Outing // It’s hard to imagine how someone being persecuted could be called “blessed,” but Jesus’ last beatitude proves that the arc of his gospel stretches past this life. When pain is absorbed with joy, it can actually change minds and hearts for eternity. Again, we remember that the faith we participate in today started with Jesus’ own suffering on behalf of all who might be called sons and daughters.
