What If You’re WRONG? When Your TRUTH’s Are LIES!

Listen Later

In this episode, we discuss the difference between your truth and facts. And how our truths impact politics, goals, and PARENTING?!

Truth is an internal thing. We take different things in our lives to make them mean something to us and create a personal belief system.

Facts, on the other hand, are external things you can measure. Think about data, statistics, and things like that. The problem we have is that we find every reason to validate our "truth" despite the facts that are right in front of us. We always want to be right. This is what you call confirmation bias.

When you get obsessed with your truth, it can blind you. It becomes this poisonous thing that closes off your mind from different perspectives. You always approach issues with a skewed perspective to validate your truth no matter what, and you don't even realize it. This type of thinking is holding us back as a society.

Once you identify that some of your views might be flawed, you need to try a break free from this. The way to do that is to build your self-awareness and surround yourself with people you possibly disagree with; this will help open up your mind and perhaps help with your perspective on the things that impact your life.

Tune in as we talk about this and other exciting topics, including how our Cake Mamas farewell party went down.
