In this episode, Eddie and I will do a “What in the World?” similar to one that we did back in February to just to talk about what’s going on right now with the Coronavirus, being sheltered to keep ourselves safe, and the way everything in life as we know it is changing to the point where people are now talking about the new normal. What in the world is Eddie’s go-to phrase when things get uncomfortable, awkward, or just strange, and we’re going to start off with what he’s been experiencing with the whole staying at home/quarantine thing that everybody is doing to keep themselves from getting infected with the Coronavirus.
Eddie’s biggest issue is not knowing how not to contaminate himself especially when we have to leave the house to go get groceries. We will have our masks and gloves on but when he gets to a point where he has to maybe press a pay button or touch anything, and he doesn’t have his gloves on for whatever reason, he worries that he may have contaminated himself. He experiences the same thing at home and at the bakery where even though he wipes down everything he comes across, he still worries when he touches something that he thinks someone else had touched.
My what in the world is mostly based on how businesses are doing business right now. Some of the larger businesses, especially the ones that deal in essential goods are really pissing me off. Sysco, for example, is where I mostly get my food and other essentials from, and I recently learned that they had increased their minimum to about $1,700 and also have some really ridiculous requirements that they’re imposing on their customers. I had a really challenging time buying from them and that should just not be happening during this time. Instead of making things easier for their customers, they’re making them harder and more expensive. Smaller businesses are doing a great job with enabling their customers to stay safer at home by making it easier for them to buy what they need. Eddie and I will discuss what our family and friends are going through and dive into how the pandemic is changing people’s characters and habits for the better. Stay tuned as we also share what you should do to create some normalcy at home and adapt to the drastic changes that are taking place.
