Tip on what an intensive is:
An intensive is an opportunity to address the developmental, complex trauma that
is hidden in the body, the cellular memory and in the Sense of Self.
An intensive provides a model of intervention needed to handle the emotionally,
verbally and physically destructive behaviors that children with RAD may display.
These children respond with terror and rage when held accountable to their
behaviors based on their learned ‘survival Skills.
Children with complex developmental attachment disruptions are best served by
an intensive treatment plan in which they are immersed in daily therapy with both
a trained therapist and their parents for one to several weeks, followed by weekly
or biweekly on-going sessions.
Traditional therapy is not conducive to the intensity, frequency, and immediacy
required to reorganize the neurological developmental trauma and be able to
address this trauma while addressing the bond needed between a parent and
child for healthy relationship development.
