WHAT IS AN EX. LAP?  An exploratory Laparotomy is a consented surgical procedure into the abdominal cavity through a midline incision. This procedure is worded vaguely due to the many possibilities that can bring pain and discomfort to a patient. This is why we, the Surgical Technologist have to prepare for the worst so that your base is covered. This episode will cover basic packs, drapes, instruments trays, soft supplies, suture, dressings, and drains.
