If you do not read the Bible in a logical way, you cannot understand it in a literal way. For example, no Christian should be encouraging the stoning of witches or those involved in homosexuality even though the Bible references these things in Exodus 22:18 and Leviticus 20:13! Dispensationalism uses the natural, progressive unfolding of the bible as the means to see the big picture without getting confused by the different ways God has dealt with mankind over the centuries.
