What is fear?
The dictionary defines it as: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.
Within that definition did you catch the cause of fear?
It said that it was, “…caused by the belief…”
Interesting!
Who’s belief? … It is our own … belief!
So, if this is true, then aren’t we the creators of our own fears?
And if fear is created by our beliefs, then don’t we need change what we believe?
Wouldn’t this prevent our fears from being created in the first place?
Now we can be frightened by something external. So don’t confuse those two, because this is not the same as fear.
It is caused by something outside of our control that scares us or make us afraid. I’m not referring to those things.
I’m talking about things we fear, even before they happen, if they will happen at all.
I’m referring to the “fear” we manufacture in our own minds.
Of which, we now know that it is created by what we believe.
Using the word FEAR, can help you change your beliefs:
F - Find the cause: What makes you believe as you do?
E - Evaluate the evidence: Can your beliefs be backed by evidence?
A - Adjust: What adjustments can you make in your beliefs?
R - Replace: Can I now replace my false belief, with the truth I’ve discovered?
As Franklin D. Roosevelt said in his Inaugural Address, “ So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief, (there’s that word again), that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—.”
So change your belief, and change your fear into fearlessness!
