What is Financial Independence?
I don't remember when I first heard about the FIRE Movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early).
If I were to guess, it was Brandon, my hubby, who read about it on the interwebs and told me about it. He's always finding random stuff on the interwebs.
If I were to guess, my first response might have been, "Good for them but not for me. I've got work I believe in and am building my own career, why would I need financial independence or early retirement? You know, if you love what you do you never work a day in your life."
But then, over time, the idea of Financial Independence has really stuck with me.
I'm not quite there with the retire early... maybe because I don't work for the man anymore already and could see myself doing what I do for a really long time and continuing to enjoy it and keep learning and growing as a human being.
Financial Independence has become appealing to me because I've learned to define it not as a destination like "retirement" but as a journey.
It's waking up each day and asking, "How can I be more financially independent today?"
