Is Hip-Hop the ghetto mentality put in a rhyme done to a beat?
If it is a culture then is there a particular mentality that defines the culture?
What is the mentality that defines the Hip-Hop culture?
I ask this question because it’s the reason why I came up with Hip-Hop Re-Presented. I believe Hip-Hop is what the mind of the people at any given time says it is.
It is not, and can’t ONLY be, what the original idea was.
This means we decide what Hip-Hop is from now on.
To further this discussion I’m going to add social media posts that relate to the subject. Below, a rising hip-hop artist by the name of Dee-1 breaks down the difference between glorification and narration. He says people are content with negative glorification. He was being polite. It seems we, the people who say we love the “culture” have too much love and respect for the negative expression.
How is this not the truth?
