Overview of Network Penetration Testing

Network Penetration Testing is a systematic and authorized attempt to assess the security of IT network infrastructure. It plays an important role in maintaining a strong security posture and minimizing the risks posed by cyber threats. It involves simulating real-world attack scenarios on a network to identify vulnerabilities and potential entry points that malicious actors could exploit. During Network Penetration Testing, a skilled security professional, often called a Penetration Tester or Ethical Hacker, attempts to find and exploit vulnerabilities within the network systems, applications, and infrastructure by simulating malicious attackers’ strategies and tactics. It may include vulnerability scanning, network mapping, exploitation of identified vulnerabilities, password cracking, social engineering, etc.
