Many talk about global warming as being an existential threat to humanity.

When I say something is an existential threat, I mean that it has the chance to wipe out part of humanity off the planet. There is also a time factor. Will it wipe off humanity this year, in ten years, or a hundred years?

The real existential threats could wipe out humanity in the near future. How does global warming rank among all the threats that could wipe out a large percentage of humanity? I think we need a rating system for existential threats. This is my first pass at a rating system; if anyone finds the concept important, I will try to improve it. Otherwise, I will move on and throw something else at the wall and see if it sticks.
