jesus's answer to the question shows that Love has 3 directions...first is to God, second is to neighbor and 3rd is to self. this is radically different than what we might hear today in today's society we here I must first love myself before I can love anyone else. Jesus is reminding us that God first loved us and so naturally our first love is to him so he can show us what true love is self-sacrificing love.
