What Is the Kingdom of the Heavens?

Listen Later

Will the next age be a time of blessing and enjoyment for us as the believers in Christ, or a time of suffering and discipline? That depends on whether or not we are faithful to the Lord in this age, so we can reign with Him in the next, and will be decided at the judgment seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10).

Of course, the next age will not be eternity, but the 1,000 year reign of Christ upon the earth, “the Millennium”; only after that time will we enter into eternity in the new heaven and new earth (Rev. 20:1-6, 21:1; see Episode #142: “The Millennium, the 1,000 Year Reign of Christ Upon the Earth”). Then all the believers will be blessed together with the Lord for eternity.
Before that time, the 1,000 years will be the open manifestation of the kingdom of the heavens on the earth. Today this kingdom is already with us (Matt. 16:19), but only in a hidden, inward way. So, it is by giving ourselves to live in the reality of the kingdom of the heavens today, under its discipline and exercise as we serve our heavenly King, that we will be prepared to reign with the Lord in the next age, when His kingdom will be openly manifested on the earth for all to see.
