What matters most in our life?
When I was 15 I met this boy, and I thought he was the most amazing man I had ever met because he made me feel like the most amazing girl. This relationship was so serious, that he proposed on my 17th birthday and we were married when I was 18. Sound crazy? Yes, it was! Well, we are still married 18 years later and I feel like God has shown me a few things about love. What I found is that what I thought was love, really is not love at all. The kind of love we see in Hollywood really is not love. You know the story. And we all crave to be loved like that, but it’s not real love. So what am I talking about then?
Love is what matters most.
Love doesn’t leave when we don’t feel it. When everything gets real bad and we see all each other’s crap. Love doesn’t whine about not feeling it anymore.
God is love. If anyone knows what love really is it is God. So let’s look at the word to see how God defines love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
