South African Airways (SAA) chief executive officer (CEO) Vuyani Jarana tendered his resignation on Thursday, citing uncertainty about funding and slow decision-making processes that were delaying the airline's turnaround strategy as reasons for his decision. His resignation also comes in the wake of Phakamani Hadebe who announced his sudden resignation as Eskom's chief executive officer, for health reason. So what needs to be done to stabilize struggling state-owned enterprises and how can stability be achieved if we continuously see the changing of CEOs at the helm of these SOEs?
