What on Earth Am I Here For
Why Am I Here? Pastor Michael Dascoli
July 12, 2020
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ 4 For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love 5 He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will—6 to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.”
Ephesians 1:3-6:
Life’s 3 Great Questions
1: The Question of Existence: Why am I alive?
“Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble
and sorrow and to end my days in shame? Jeremiah 20:18
“The LORD has made everything for its purpose…” Proverbs 16:4a (ESV)
“Long before (God) laid down earth’s foundation, He had us in mind, and settled on us as the focus of His love, to be made whole and holy by His love.” Ephesians 1:4 (Msg)
Why am I here? I was created to be loved by God
2. The question of Significance: Does my life matter?
“My work all seems so useless! I have spent my strength
for nothing and for no purpose at all.” Isaiah 49:4a
He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love 5 He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will—6 to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.” Ephesians 1:4-6
“But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes
of His heart through all generations.” Psalms 33:11
“…we know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven—God-made, not hand-made—and we’ll never have to relocate our “tents” again.” 2Corinthians 5:1(Msg)
Does my life matter? So much that I was made to last forever
3: The question of Intention: What is my purpose?
“For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible…
everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him.” Colossians 1:16 (Msg)
In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will… Ephesians 1:11:
What is my purpose? It all begins with getting to know God
Let’s Pray:
-What is God’s Spirit saying to you today?
-How must you respond?
