Leonard Ravenhill once said that the early Church was married to poverty, prisons and persecutions. Today, the church is married to prosperity, personality, and popularity.  In essence, when things are easy and good, that is when the church most often goes astray. It  seems to me that many have lost track of what the nature of persecution truly is and should be, giving way for many charlatans and pretenders to claim this holy legacy and heritage of persecution that Jesus promised those who will genuinely follow Him.
