On today's episode Elena and Grant talk about Ray Rice and the controversy surrounding his suspension after allegedly physically assaulting his fiancé in an elevator in Atlantic City. The media has been weighing in on this story and the issue of physical abuse. Everyone from ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith whose comments on the matter got him suspended for a week by the network to Whoopie Goldberg and the ladies of ABC’s The View have been sounding off on this hot topic.

Grant and Elena begin the show talking about “whoopins” they got as kids which becomes the overall message of the show. Parents should not hit their kids. It does nothing to change the behavior and instead devalues both the child and the parent. Additionally it teaches by example that hitting is normal and acceptable which only creates a cycle and legacy of physical abuse. Callers weigh in on physical abuse and ultimately the message Grant and Elena send is clear:

1. Parent must not hit their kids.

2. Women must NOT hit men.

3. Men must NOT hit women.

4. People overall should not hit one another.
