Want to know how someone feels about you? Pay attention to their actions.

Don’t listen to their words, sweet as they may sound. Most people believe what they’re saying to you as they say it, and sometimes can’t live up to the words. That doesn’t mean they’re a liar, it just means they’re human. They probably meant what they said at the time, and when the rubber meets the road, they do something that contradicts those words.

Believe them. Don’t make excuses for them and don’t vilify them either, because that gives them more emotional space in your life than they deserve.

Trust them. Believe them. Not everyone is a great fit for you, as an employee, as a friend or as a romantic partner. Trust their actions. They are more telling than their words.
