Purpose doesn't arrive later. It shows up early and waits to be recognized.
Zaakirah Nayyar Muhammad is a retinoblastoma survivor, brand strategist, and TEDx speaker whose life was shaped by a diagnosis caught in a photograph at six months old and surgery at nine months old that removed her right eye.
She traces how being introduced to a camera as a child became direction, from learning it instinctively to studying commercial photography and continuing that work through international travel, documentary production, and teaching photography in Kenya. The same pattern carried into storytelling, advocacy, and the way she sees and captures people.
What showed up early stayed consistent. It sharpened through repetition, pressure, and responsibility.
Purpose was never missing. It was already there, waiting to be taken seriously.
