Five ANC members have been sworn in as members of Parliament. They fill the vacancies left by cabinet members who did not make it back into President Cyril Ramaphosa's cabinet. Meanwhile, another two former ministers, Jeff Radebe and Siyabonga Cwele, have resigned their seats in the National Assembly. Their resignations follow on four other former members of the executive who had done so last week. So what spurred the recent resignation? Could it be the humiliation of being demoted from Cabinet positions to ordinary backbenchers, or perhaps the impact on their pensions and other perks of high office?
