This is our actual, current financial model for Slidebean. I use this spreadsheet twice or thrice a week and have done so since we started the company (with certainly uglier versions of this sheet).

As a startup founder, COO, or operations manager, a financial model translates into informed decision-making. A miscalculation can cost people their jobs at any point in your company stage. It happened to us once, and it was a terrible experience- having to fire someone because you made a mistake in your estimations of the runway.

So today, I want to dive deep into the financial model template that we use for our decision-making. I'll start with the mistakes I often see founders make, follow with our broad approach to modeling, and finally do a quick overview of the spreadsheet we've created- which is, of course, available for free to anyone who wants to download it.
