What the Bible Says About Jesus

A friend of ours in church told us how he was looking for a church when he moved to a new neighbourhood. He went from one church to another. At the one church a priest met him and asked if he was there for a bingo night. At another church the leader answered the door with a drink and a cigarette in his hand. Then he walked past a small entrance to a church that looked like a café and someone asked if: “Can I tell you what the Bible says about Jesus?” Twenty years later our friend is still functional and fruitful in that Jesus centred church!
Here are 10 things the Bible says about Jesus:
1. He is the Saviour of our souls. 1 John 4:14
1Jn_4:14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.
2. He is the Redeemer and Passover Lamb that is slain for our sins, so that we should not die in our sins but live eternally.
Exo_12:27 that you shall say, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice of the LORD, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.’ ” So the people bowed their heads and worshiped.
During the last supper, Jesus revealed that His body would become the Passover for his disciples to come:
1Co_11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
1Co_5:7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
3. He is also the Mediator of a better and new covenant that has better promises for us.
Heb 12:24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
4. He is the Christ and anointed one who showed us how to get back to the Father God.
He is the Son of God
Mat 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Mat 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
5. He is the source of our life and living water.
Joh_4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Joh_7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
6. He is the bread of life and He is the Word made flesh.
Joh_6:32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
Joh_6:33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
7. He is the light of the world that shines through us
