What the IoT Means to You and Your Insurer

Whether it is collecting data across a giant enterprise or from your home, the Internet of Things, as part of a big data strategy, has real potential to change how companies and home owners do business with insurance companies.
Those devices that manage heating systems, security tools, smoke alarms, and other electronics spread throughout a company or a home are generating data that can help an insurance company better evaluate you as a good risk or a poor one. Of course, that  can translate into lower premiums for those of us on the good side of the coin, while those with higher risks could end up paying more.
Gwenn Bézard is co-founder and research director at Aite Group, where he leads the insurance practice. He joins All Analytics Radio to discuss what the IoT and the smart home mean to the insurance sector and its customers on Friday, May 6, at noon (EDT).
