When you’re selling, there’s nothing more exciting than receiving a good offer on your home.
But even when that happens, it’s likely going to take some negotiation before you finally hand over the keys.
The negotiation phase begins when you make a counter offer to the buyers, meaning you agree with some of their terms, but not all of them. This counter offer lays the ground work for both parties to try and come up with a new, mutually beneficial agreement.
Negotiating might lead to changes to the price and closing date, the inclusion or removal of appliances, or alterations to the house. And although it can be stressful, it’s a very common phase of a home sale.
As long as both sides are experienced, hard working and willing to bend just a little, negotiation is an effective and fair means to arrive at a deal.
