Nadia Romanos chats to Riaz Solker, the writer, producer, and director of South African independent film, Sodium Day, which is now streaming on NetflixInterview.
Riaz, who is also an educator, was inspired to make his first feature film from his own experiences in the classroom. 
Sodium Day is a comedy­-drama about a day in the life of an underprivileged school in the Cape Flats, how the students navigate their way through absent teachers, racial tensions, a fellow student gone missing, and the threat of local gangsters.
