Nadia Romanos chats to actors Thabo Rametsi (Kalushi: the Story of Solomon Mahlangu) and Stefan Erasmus from new SA hostage thriller, Silverton Siege.

The film is based on true events that occurred in Pretoria in 1980. It follows a trio of freedom fighters, Umkhonto weSizwe (MK), who, while on a high-profile mission to sabotage a petrol depot, realize they have been set up, with police ready and waiting to arrest them. A fierce and deadly chase ensues which sees them seeking shelter inside a Bank. As the Trio recognize their only options are prison or death, they decide to negotiate for the release of Nelson Mandela, sparking the global “Free Nelson Mandela” movement.

Silverton Siege is streaming on Netflix from 27 April 2022.
