Upstate pediatric gastroenterologist Aamer Imdad, MBBS, helped analyze 47 medical studies about vitamin A deficiency in children. The studies showed that children who received vitamin A supplements had a significantly lower risk of dying from diarrhea, pneumonia or measles. His work has become part of a policy document that advocates for vitamin A supplementation in poor nations through food fortification and distribution or horticultural developments.
