What was in the Cup?
In Matthew 26:36-46, Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane. It was His final hours with the disciples. He prayed to God asking if this "cup" could pass from Him, but He accepted it as God's will. Have you ever wondered what was in the "cup"? As I thought and prayed about what was in the cup, I began to understand. There are five things that I believe were in that cup.
1) Sin - Jesus must take it all...past, present, and future.
2) Suffering - It is imminent, it is real, and it is soon.
3) Sacrifice - Jesus is giving His perfect life for others forever.
4) Separation - Jesus asked God why He had forsaken Him.
5) Salvation - Jesus is our only hope. He did the Father's will.
God put Jesus on the cross and He accepted it. Jesus went the way of suffering for us. During this Resurrection time, I hope you will consider what "Easter" is truly about and thank God for Jesus Christ.
