If God made everything good, what caused the world to become broken?

In the beginning, everything was right. There was no pain, no fear, and no wrong choices. God created the world, and it was perfect.

The Bible says in Genesis chapter 1 verse 31, “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.”

God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, and placed them in a beautiful garden. They had everything they needed. They could walk with God and talk with Him. There was nothing between them and their Creator.

God gave them one command. He told them they could eat from every tree except one. That tree was called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

This was not a hard rule. It was a simple choice—trust God or go their own way.
