Publisher's Summary:
When you host a program for women, and you open up the phone lines, email box, and Facebook page, you often resonate with their heart-breaking stories. That's been the case as women have tuned in to Moody Radio's Midday Connection, a radio show co-hosted by author Anita Lustrea, and shared their struggles and victories. When issues are raised such as loneliness, friendship, mothering, domestic abuse, sexual addiction, and body image, women pour out their hearts.
Lustrea has heard heart-breaking stories through the years, and those stories have intersected with her own story of heartbreak. God lovingly weaves these stories into a tapestry to be used for His glory.
Lustrea's story means nothing without the impact of all of the other stories she has heard. Sometimes the church tries to sweep the hard stories under the carpet. Somehow we've gotten the impression that the hard things of life shouldn't be shared. But when you allow your stories to become known, start to interact with the stories of others, and then allow God to work in and through your life, something miraculous starts to happen.
In What Women Tell Me, Anita Lustrea tells her story along with the difficult stories of other women. For a long time, she listened to those who said "You can only hurt others by sharing your wounds." When she realized that was a lie, she saw for the first time that through her wounds, she could be an agent of healing in the body of Christ.

Disappointed
The first chapter captured me. As I read more and more of the book, though, I became disappointed. The author has a lot to say about how important friendships are and how difficult it was for women (including herself) to make friendships. She states a large percentage of people do not have a friend they could call in a crisis...then mentioned 4 friends that she could call at 3:00 am should she need them. That is at least 3 more friends than a lot of people can claim and seems to go against her previous writing about not having good friends. It began to feel insincere. I did not finish the book.
A Much-Needed Message for Women in the Church
Reading Anita's book was so liberating and life-giving to me. I found myself nodding so many times through the book, saying, "I can relate!" and the end result was that I felt so much less alone with my own struggles and secrets--and who of us doesn't carry our own load of those? I especially appreciated Anita sharing about her own story with candor and honesty, as it gives me the courage to want to share more of my own. Thank you, Anita: this book is a gift to us all.
What Women Tell Me
Anita's book gives a refreshing look into the heart of a woman who has been given the ability to see beyond personal sorrow and embrace the transforming grace of God that has lifted her to a revitalized relationship with the Lord. In my opinion, every woman will profit from reading this candid account.
Five Stars
Loved it, Great Book
What Women Tell Me
This book was a good read if you follow the day to day programing of Midday Connection. It gave insight into the host and her journey. It was good to see in writing what some of the struggles are of today's women.
