This is a story about a man and his tent, but more specifically what is in his tent. Tents were used by this group of people to travel and get into the Promised Land. They had been traveling from Egypt where they were in captivity for 40 years. Under the leadership of Joshua, the people of Israel had just crossed the Jordan and conquered the walled city of Jericho. They were moving to Ai where they were defeated. The reason they were defeated, is that a man in the Israel camp hid something in his tent against God’s specific instructions. His tent was where he lived and he had to move on into the Promised Land further and further and get closer and closer to God’s providence that was ahead.
