The Lord Reveals His majestic glory.

Many years ago, the famous sculptor Alexander (Sandy) Calder attended an event. All around him, people were whispering and pointing. A little boy in the group wanted to know what was going on. Someone leaned down and told him that the man over there was the famous mobile artist, Alexander Calder. The boy replied, “No, that’s just my Grandpa Sandy.”

For many of us, Jesus has taken on the familiarity of Grandpa Sandy. We see our Lord as our older brother, our confidant, and our best friend. His human nature allows Him to understand our struggles. He has experienced our pain. We identify with this. It allows us to feel our God is one of us and always on our side.

As we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration this week on Saturday, let’s take a step back and acknowledge the majestic glory of Jesus. He is God, the Messiah, the King of kings! “...at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…”
