What’s In The Box?
In this chapter we go deeper into how we converted a storage cold cellar to a secret, teeny, tiny 50 SQFT LIFE, who helped do it and WHAT’S EXACTLY IN THIS BOX WE BUILT? The Electrical? Heating? Air Conditioning? Internet? Security? Drywall? Paint? Flooring? Furniture? Decor?
We also talk deeply about bananas.
Our names are Jarrett and Angie. We are Generation X’ers. Married with children. Long careers. Retirement plan. Not quite dog or white, picket fences but there is a cat and minivan parked outside. Years ago, we came up with an idea. An audacious idea. Together we had a wonderful, audacious, asinine idea to build a secret, teeny, tiny space in our house unbeknownst to our three mind flaying children. We call it 50 SQFT LIFE. 5 feet by 10 feet to be exact.
By any means necessary we stealthily slip away whilst the oblivious offspring have no idea. Inevitably parenting until death, it’s a place where we can be unapologetically us in pursuit of a destined creative calling. A place where we don’t share a KFC BUCKET, or drink Diet anything. We can watch Dave Chappelle with the volume past 3 and laugh, albeit maniacally quiet.
Unlikely and furtive experts in the arts, fitness, nutrition, relationships, parenting, and silly ideas, we have lived a million hours and are reimagining and sharing all of it.
It's been beautiful and amazing doing this with each other and sometimes it's been terrifying and the scariest thing we’ve ever done. Nobody we know at our age is doing something so silly and trying new, uncomfortable things… All we know is that this blessed life we live isn’t entirely who we are and who we want to be.
We believe through creating and living a more creative life, true happiness could be realized.
We don’t know if our secret, teeny, tiny, 50 SQFT LIFE will remedy any or all of these, for US and YOU... but we do know we’ll smile more, laugh more, hopefully inspire and provide unique and authentic value in an extremely new and entertaining way.
It’s been an extraordinary ride so far living in secret and we’re having a lot of fun figuring out what to do next.
In short…If our calculations are correct, you’re going to see some serious sh*t.
