Join us for our next riveting conversation in a new series titled: “Lessons from covid-19 2020, 26 stories: 1 Pandemic: Meet the bestselling authors.” In today’s episode, I talk with Sharon Bett, a servant of God, a mother, a wife, an experienced and talented “dancing/ministering” stylist, entrepreneur and a bestselling author.
Sharon Bett was born in Kingston, Jamaica where she studied cosmetology, she later immigrated to the UK, where she furthered her studies in hairdressing and currently works as a Learning facilitator at the Grimsby institute.
She is also the owner of Umojah Afro/Euro Barber Salon in North East Lincolnshire UK. She recently celebrated 10 years in business and was awarded Salon of the year 2020 by the Central London Prestige Award. Sharon wrote her first book in 2020 called Afromation Handbook "it's not just hair, it's your heart."
In today’s episode, Sharon shares her passion for God, people, hair and dance with us. It was a beautiful conversation of how God uses people to bless us, challenge us and grow us and how his plans for us are always bigger and better than our own. In 2020, God peels away the layers and asks Sharon, “What is in your Fridge?” She empties the Fridge (her life), removes the stuff, and makes room for God and in that moment He does amazing things in her life.
Three of the nuggets that Sharon shared are:
1. It is important to empty our fridge (life) of the stuff! The stuff that weighs us down, hinders our growth and separates us from God.
2. The importance of truly letting God into our lives and fully submitting to His will, so God can flow in and through us.
3. I am good enough! You are good enough!
