When it comes to finding your "dream" doctor job, it's going to be important to have an idea of what you're looking for. We spend years in training honing our skills to be able to do our job well and help patients. But like it or not, our job is deeply intertwined with the business side of medicine. I remember being told as a resident to not get fixated on the salary. "It's not just about that number". Words that are easy to forget when you see a number higher than you can imagine and all the other [ SEVERAL ] pages of the contract seem to be irrelevant.  But they're not! And could make your life difficult... On today's episode, I ask you a question that I think is important for you to start thinking about NOW regardless of where you are in your career: If you had to chose, which is more important to you: having a higher salary or a position where you have autonomy? Sure, it would be ideal to have both, but often times, there's some degree of give and take.  When you're looking for a job, reviewing contracts, and negotiating, you're going to have to figure out what's more important to you. And if you know ahead of time, it's going to make the job selection and negotiations a lot easier.  So, are you #TeamSalary or #TeamAutonomy?  * SUBSCRIBE. SHARE this episode with a friend.
