Electric motors literally keep our world running. It is estimated that there are around 700 million electric motors in use around the world, with 300 million in the industrial sector alone. And this number is sure to grow with the increasing electrification of all sectors, the advancing automation of industry and the growing number of electric vehicles. This means that the energy efficiency of drives is becoming increasingly important – after all, electric motors consume around 65% of electricity in industrial applications.
