안녕하세요, 영이에요.
Hi guys! My name is Young, and I am your tutor! Today, I’d like to answer the question ”What's the letter 'c' in Korean?" Well, I see this website does not show about the double consonants. In Hangul, there are 5 double consonants and one of them just sounds like alphabet ‘c’ and that is “ㅆ” its name is 쌍시옷. I assume that you already know ‘ㅅ’ 시옷 so 쌍시옷 is double 시옷, and 쌍 means pair like double in Korean. Now let’s see the difference between them. 시옷 is pronounced gently like 사서소수샤 as in 'shy' in English. And 쌍시옷 is pronounced with more force like 싸써쏘쑤쌰 like ‘c’ in the English alphabet and as in ‘sea’ in English. Let’s practice more with some other words.
Do you know how to say ‘ love’ in Korean? It is 사랑 its not 싸랑.
And how about Samsung? The Korean brand that almost the whole population knows 삼성. I always hear people say 쌈성 but its really 삼성. Now let’s learn 2 words that contain ‘ㅆ’ 쌍둥이 it means twins/ 쌍커풀 which means double eyelids. Basically 쌍 means double like I told you earlier so next time when you see 쌍 in some words you will know it means double!
Thanks for watching this video, and if you want to learn more with me, book a lesson! Thank you~bye!
