What's Your Conscience, If I Ask You Why? Part Five

Listen Later

"The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion." Proverbs 28:1

Let your conscience be a source of encouragement rather than a burden, guiding you towards a life aligned with God's will. When I think about Proverbs 28:1, it always brings to mind the story of Adam and Eve hiding from God in Genesis 3:8. It's a reminder that our conscience can drive us to hide when we feel guilty or ashamed. We all have moments of wanting to hide from our mistakes, but the important thing is to learn from them and move forward.

I know people still have questions for Adam, wondering how he could have made the choices he did. It's natural to question Adam's choices, wondering how he could make those decisions. Likewise, as we navigate through life, we often make mistakes that have far-reaching consequences. Our children and grandchildren will look to us for wisdom and guidance to understand why we made decisions that negatively impacted their future. It's important to be ready to answer when they ask us why. Remember that there is still room for change.

2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."

We can draw strength from the message in 1 John 3:21. When we live according to our conscience and seek forgiveness for our mistakes, we can approach God with boldness and assurance. Our conscience serves as a guide to help us discern right from wrong, but it also offers the opportunity for repentance and growth. When we align our actions with our values and seek reconciliation with God, we can find strength in knowing that our conscience is clear.

We should encourage ourselves and others by reflecting on our conscience. Let's strive to live in a way that aligns with our values and brings blessings to future generations. Though our past actions may have caused harm, it's never too late to foster positive change and set a new course forward. Our conscience can guide us in making better choices today, ensuring we leave a legacy of hope, love, and wisdom for those who come after us. Amen. 1 John 3:21 says, "Beloved if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;" Amen.

Prayer for Today!

Oh Lord, I come before you with a humble heart, asking for your guidance and wisdom. Help me to walk in righteousness and avoid causing unnecessary difficulty for those who come after me. Let my actions and choices be a testament to your grace and mercy rather than a stumbling block for future generations.

Lead me on the path of integrity and selflessness so that my life may be a blessing and inspiration to those who follow in my footsteps. In Jesus' name. Amen.
