The default setting is how you revert to when your conscious facilities aren’t engaged. We all have a default in every aspect of life. And it’s a matter of knowing what that default is if you want to make changes.
This level of awareness is important in developing a high performance and success mindset.
For example, my defaults around my health is such that I always get a regular workout in — even while on vacation. I learned a long time ago that physical activity was integral to my metal and physical health so I developed the default of making sure I get that activity in regardless of my circumstance.
Same with “work”. My default around my goals is that I make sure to do something everyday to love the needle closer to fulfilling those goals. Whether it’s creating content, or writing, or even meeting new people and expanding my network, there’s a consistent daily activity.
That’s what the default is. It’s your autopilot. And it’s largely responsible for the results you have in life because it runs the majority of the time.
So if you want to make changes, the very first step is growing an awareness around your defaults. If you don’t, they’ll always sabotage any work you do towards your new goals.
